Battle of the Box Sets: Unabridged

For those of you who thought there could have been a little more insight in our Battle of the Box Sets, I present to you the entire show, breaks included, as a Youtube playlist to give the complete picture of what we had to say. Many thanks go out to for his outstanding camera work and clockwork reliability.

Catch The Film Cynics on CFAX 1070 every Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm. (Just not this weekend as we’re being pre-empted by the freakin’ BC Lions.)

  • So jealous you guys get to do your thing in an actual studio but really fun to watch.
Also, I LOVE Any Given Sunday. Might actually be my favorite Stone film.

    • It really is as fun as it looks. Fun enough to get Brian to make a 2 hour ferry ride every week just to sit and take my abuse for an hour.

Glad to know I’m not the only one to see Any Given Sunday as a classic. I think people set unrealistic standards for football movies, especially considering what’s already out there… Although I think NBK has got to be my fave.

      • And they took a chance making up a football league with cheesy team names like The Knights but for some reason, in that film, it just works.

        • You know, the way they built that fictional league up, I actually believed that it existed simultaneously with the NFL – I mean, they didn’t have great uniforms or mascots or anything, but Stone really created a sense of legacy in there and made it seem like the Sharks really were a team with a dynasty. I mean, they’re no Dillon Panthers, but they’re one of my favourite fictional sports teams… hey, I think I feel a list coming on…
