New Hanna trailer

Brian’s out of town this week and I’m too sick for anything particularly constructive as far as making a list, but I did just come across this great new trailer for Hanna that might tide you over until our show this weekend. It’s nice to see different trailers of the same film to show you a little more of the structure and path of the film – especially when it looks like things are still on the right track. Still not sure how I feel about Tom Hollander’s character – feels like the weak link to me, but we’ll see.

Hanna will reveal herself on April 8th.

Is Hana the same actor who was in “The Kids are Alright”? Anyway, it looks good. We just rented the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo last night. I think Mom is hooked. I thought it was terrific and I’m looking forward to the second one.

    • Actually, it’s the same girl from Atonement and The Lovely Bones. Mia Washowska (sp?) was the girl in Alice in Wonderland. Not to be a bring down, but the subsequent films to Dragon Tattoo never quite capture it’s greatness, even if they are really good. Noomi Rapace (Lisbeth) is going to be in the Sherlock Holmes sequel, I’m very excited to see it.

  • Hanna is one I’m definitely looking forward to. Looks like almost a Bourne type thriller.

On the Millennium Trilogy: I actually enjoyed it. But you’re right, the second and third weren’t quite as good as the first. I am looking forward to seeing Noomi in Sherlock Holmes though. In fact, I’m just really excited about that movie, period. Will be cool to also see Noomi in her first American role though and see her outside of the Lisbeth character to see how she does.

Certainly has a number of Bourne aspects to it, right down to the special conditioning Hanna apparently got to make her extra tough. What I think I like so much about this is that she’s on the hunt right from the jump, rather than on the run.

I hope the language barrier isn’t a problem for Noomi – I think her rumoured role as a gypsy might offer her the proper “in between” transition to get her into the spotlight and offer the excuse for why her English delivery might not be spot on.

      • Yea, that on the hunt rather than on the run twist could make it interesting. It’s definitely one I’m looking out for and one that made my Top 25 Most Anticipated in an article I did on one of my film sites.

About Noomi: I don’t foresee an language problem. I know she speaks English. And from what I hear she actually does it pretty well with no huge accent or any broken English at all. About the spotlight thing, I’m not sure people will even know who she is. First, I don’t think quite that many even know the Millennium Trilogy movies. And if they do, looking at Noomi as herself, then looking at her as Lisbeth….looks like a completely different person.

        • It’s funny how Hanna is capturing people’s imaginations, even though it’s making use of fairly familiar elements from other films. I think it’s Ronan’s presence that’s getting people so excited, she’s got this great 1000 yard sociopathic stare she can rely on. Bana and Blanchet backing her up doesn’t hurt either.

For Noomi, I guess that means she’s kind of starting from square one with mainstream audiences, which is a shame considering how great her performance as Lisbeth was. I hope it isn’t too long before she gets a role as juicy as that in the Hollywood system, but she’s got a lot of talented actresses with higher profiles to get past first. In her favour though, is that I couldn’t name an actress she could be interchanged with – something that I could easily do with the Witherspoons, Jolies and Roberts’ of the world.

I agree Ronan has a great onscreen presence. She’s a unigue actress who’s improving with every film. I’m so looking forward to Hanna, and all her future work. I believe she’ll go on to become as big as Blanchett!(maybe even bigger)

    • Welcome to the Film Cynics Zee!

For an actress so young, she’s done a great job choosing strong roles that make great use of her abilities. If you look at someone like Ana Paquin, or even Keisha Castle-Hughes, their early acclaim wound up being scattered to the wind for too long. Here’s hoping Ronan can keep it on track.
