Beauty like Ondine’s melts men of Iron
Monday, September 27th, 2010It’s a show of shows this week for our 1st anniversary performance. That’s right, one year of our own show on the radio! To celebrate, we’ve got our favourite Irish movie blogger, Darren Mooney on the phone to help us review Iron Man 2, Ondine and the Sapphire Series release of American Beauty.
- We kick things off with a get to know you session with Darren Mooney from the m0vie blog. He offers up his favourite films, director and clarifies a little what TV in Ireland is like.
- Neil Jordan’s Ondine is reviewed by our panel of three – and it is strictly a coincidence that we have an Irish film on the docket when we have an Irish critic on board for the ride.
- Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 faces the firing squad and the results are positive almost across the board. The second installment of the franchise is clearly under the thumb of Marvel and big daddy Disney, but there’s plenty of good times to tide us over.
- Steve presents his 3 favourite Batmans – and somehow there’s enough time to talk about all of them. If you want the full 5, you’ll have to go digging through the blog!
- Paramount has just released the latest edition of their Sapphire Series of classic titles: American Beauty. Does the blu-ray edition play up all the strengths and offer up something you haven’t seen before? The answers are yes and no.
