Welcome to the podcast for the modern movie watcher. The Film Cynics were once a pair of surly video store clerks that eventually worked their way into the biz. After bouncing around in the industry for a while, they decided to stay true to the adage of: Those who can’t do, teach. And those who can’t find teaching jobs, create websites so they can spout off about movies and TV and anything in pop culture that catches their short attention spans. In our podcast you’ll be able to tune into our radio show on CFAX 1070.

We're back from a week of pre-emption with our special guest Richard Hatch and our review of Ice Age 3!

After being pre-empted by our new arch-nemesis, the BC Lions (can’t believe we’ve only been on the air a month and we already have an arch-nemesis) we are back with all kinds of great stuff this week. To kick things off, leading up to his appearance at the Victoria Comic Book Convention this coming weekend, we have a special interview with the only actor to star in both Battlestar Galactica franchises, Mr. Richard Hatch! He answers the phone to tell us a little about comic conventions and share some of his experiences on the sets of two legendary science fiction franchises. Then we offer our thoughts on the return of 30 Rock, and then take time time out to give out a whole stack of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan and Land of the Lost DVD’s courtesy of our friends at Universal Home Video – at last! Proof we have listeners! Then we review the seemingly pointless release of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs on DVD and blu-ray. For Geeking Out, we discuss the merits of a 7.1 home theatre system over a 5.1. Finally we break out Field of Dreams and The Castle from the Vault for your possible viewing pleasure. Hope you enjoy and we hope you keep coming back for more!

I assure you, we're still on the air... at least as far as I know...

No, we haven’t been taken off the air, this week’s show was preempted by the only Sunday game the Lions are playing all season. We assure you, we had a kick ass show lined up for you: We were going to lambaste Land of the Lost (just before we tried to give away free copies to callers who could answer a skill testing question) talk over my experience watching Where the Wild Things Are, and then we were gonna chat up the merits of 5.1 home theatre systems and 7.1 systems. Regardless of the preempting, our trailers of the week (Bronson & Edge of Darkness) are up on our site for your viewing pleasure and we’ll still be posting our Vault picks this week.

Most importantly, we were going to announce our first guest on our show coming up next week (October 25th), star of both incarnations of Battlestar Galactica, Mr. Richard Hatch. He’ll be coming to town for the Victoria Comic Convention on October 30th, but he’s joining us the week before on the phone to talk a little about his career in television.

Anyways, stay tuned. Barring any kind of freak rescheduling of the NHL, we’ll be back on the attack next weekend.
