Welcome to the podcast for the modern movie watcher. The Film Cynics were once a pair of surly video store clerks that eventually worked their way into the biz. After bouncing around in the industry for a while, they decided to stay true to the adage of: Those who can’t do, teach. And those who can’t find teaching jobs, create websites so they can spout off about movies and TV and anything in pop culture that catches their short attention spans. In our podcast you’ll be able to tune into our radio show on CFAX 1070.

We're celebrating the 25th Anniversary of The Goonies this week!

We’ve got our party hats on this week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Goonies. A quarter century ago, Richard Donner directed a group of kids on a pirate adventure through an array of “bootie traps” (“That’s what I said!”) on the coast of Oregon and into history. We reminisce and try to give it its due. Along for the ride are our thoughts on The Informant & Get Him to the Greek, heralding the arrival of The Good Guys, a lament for Brian’s quest for a Bluetooth headset, and the trailers for Winnebago Man and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

The Film Cynics review the DVD release of vampiric comedy, The Vampire's Assistant.

Incredibly, the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey game wrapped up just in time for The Film Cynics to go on the air and deliver one of their most scathing reviews for The Vampire’s Assistant. We also had time to talk about The Hurt Locker’s Oscar troubles, the possibility of an Unbreakable 2, David Goyer writing the new Superman movie, and even speculations about what’s going on with Lost.We geek out over still cameras that can shoot HD video, then break Night Watch and In Bruges out of the Vault, and wrap it up with the trailers for Get Him to the Greek and Nightmare on Elm Street.

You can listen to the show here subscribe to our podcast here or check us out on iTunes here.
